Lighthouse Chapel International

Lighthouse Chapel International (LCI) is a Christian church founded in 1988 by Dag Heward-Mills and headquartered in Accra, Ghana.
It is one of the leading charismatic churches in Ghana, and has branches in many other countries in Africa, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Australia, the Middle East and the Americas.
The church originated as a student evangelistic ministry, and many of its leaders and members belong to the urban professional classes.
LCI emphasizes church planting and lay leadership. It runs an orphanage, school and hospital in Ghana.
The "Qodesh", the headquarters of the LCI, may be the largest religious building complex in Ghana.
Lighthouse Chapel International is one of the largest of the Pentecostal churches that have appeared since the late 1970s in cities in Africa.
It has since grown from a church into a denomination in several countries.
LCI is a member of the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACCC). and the Pentecostal World Fellowship
It the largest of the charismatic churches in Ghana, which have steadily drawn membership away from traditional churches.
The word "international" in the church's name reflects the common emphasis on success in charismatic Christian churches in Ghana, as does the term "the Megachurch" that it commonly uses to describe itself.
Lighthouse Chapel International was founded by Dag Heward-Mills in 1988.
Heward-Mills is Ghanaian with a Swiss background.
He was inspired by Kenneth E. Hagin (1917–2003), who in turn was a follower of E. W. Kenyon (1867–1948).
Heward-Mills began a Christian fellowship at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he worked as a physician in the 1980s.
The LCI developed from that prayer group.
Heward-Mills left medicine to become a full-time Pastor in 1991.
Dag Heward-Mills has spoken against the trend to equate Christianity with happiness and prosperity, saying that "Jesus did not come to make people happy and comfortable but to save man from his sins."
==History==
It seemed like a lonely journey devoid of success, when Bishop Dag Heward-Mills began ministering the Christian Gospel in Accra, Ghana. This vision seems to continue unabated. This vision has birthed Lighthouse Chapel International and many other ministries.
